#Review-Hotel: One of a budget hotel in Singapore, Hotel 81 Gold.
As i said before, i will review Hotel 81 Gold, Geylang, Singapore! I promised to write about this when i wrote Day 1, so maybe i will review a little bit about this Hotel.
Well, why i choose this Hotel is because this hotel isn't too expensive (for a Hotel in Singapore). Find a good hotel with a good price is a little bit hard in here, because mostly above Rp 800000 for a good Hotel in a good place. If you want to save more, you can try Hostel and in Singapore you can find a lot of Hostel with a really good price (mostly below Rp 200000).
What is the difference between Hotel and Hostel? In Hotel, you don't have to share your room with anyone. In Hostel, you will share your room with a strangers and in here you can choose: Women only, Men only, or Mix. And , the more people your room will share with, the cheapest (price) you will get.
So, because i trip with my mother, obviously i wouldn't choose Hostel because my mother (and i) don't want to share a bathroom with a someone else! So, we picked Hotel 81 Gold in Geylang. Everything was alright until d-3 before we went to Singapore, i googled about Geylang and shocked because the article. They said, geylang street is the red light district of Singapore! I told my mother about it but she said, "It's ok! Because we want a budget hotel and hotel 81 gold is one of budget hotels right? We will be safe there"
To be honest, i really want to change my hotel because of the article. But, when i already arrived in Singapore, i said to myself "It's ok, we just stay there for one night". So, we went to Hotel 81 Gold, Geylang, Singapore!
In the afternoon, geylang was so quiet. The hardest part of searching this Hotel is not everyone know about the Lorong in here! We asked 3 people in here, but they said they do not know the exactly location about this hotel. But, they are so friendly and so helpful! One of them even google about this hotel to get a direction.
And here we are, Hotel 81 Gold! (Loc: 20 Lorong 20 Geylang, Singapura 398738)
The wi-fi connection is really good, even my mom always post a picture or share location with her friends without saying "the connection is so bad" while i watch YouTube on television.

How to get here:
- From Changi Airport, take a train to Tanah Merah st and get off there on the left side.
- Take a MRT to Jurong East, and get off in Aljunied St
- Go to an exit and when you see bus station, go to the left side and just walk until you find traffic lamp (1) then you go to the right and cross the line.
- Then just walk until you find another bus station and until you find a zebra cross / traffic lamp (2)
- Then you go to a first alley and you will find a restaurant there.
- Then you go to the right side and find a restaurant again (this resto looks like a food court)
- Then you will find a traffic lamp / zebra cross (3) right in front of the resto. Then you cross the line.
- Just walk a little bit, then you will find Hotel 81 Gold (right beside Hotel Fragrance)!
The hotel was really nice and the reseptionist can talk in Melayu (also in english). They’re really friendly, and you can ask everything if you want to know something in there. When i entered this hotel, i thought this hotel is a new building. You can also put your suitcase in front of the lobby, when you want to travel around before check in.
I got a room number 601, they said they have a wi-fi and for the password, you can look it in the television!
The room is a little bit cramped. If you want to sholat, maybe you'll find this difficult because no space left except a little space near of the bathroom and they don't give you a direction of kiblat. You should have a muslim app on your phone!
This is what bathroom looks like. The bathroom is so small, it just fit for one person. They give you a 2 towel. "Did they give you a free shampoo or soap?" At first, i thought they don't have it but you can use a liquid soap beside a sink, you just need to push it.
They give you a water bottle, water heater, and free teabag as well. I bet every hotel gives you that things, right? But what i like about this hotel is you don't need to buy travel adapter! You just need to bring your phone's cable and charge your phone.
(sorry about my stuff)
It may looks small but isn't. The bed is so big maybe king or queen size.
But, what i really really really like about this Hotel is because the television is so big and you can watch clip on YouTube instead watch a movie on their channels. You just need to click YouTube and write what do you want to watch from television's remote. I watched 2 Days 1 Night in here hihi. Cool, right?
I arrived in Hotel at 11 PM but the condition of this street isn't scary at all. Just walk and do not looking around or do something makes they think you want some attention from them, you'll be fine. There's a lot of restaurant that (finally) open! You can find a food here, but mostly isn't halal food.
This street was really safe until a midnight. As long as you don't disturb them (and they don't disturb you), you don't have to worry about this location. But, for anyone who bring a children (below 13 yo), i suggest you to find hotel in another location.
If you want to search another budget hotel, you can try to download Traveloka or Agoda on your phone because sometime they give you a extra discount if you book hotel from this site. I got this hotel for about Rp 400000. You can share with your friends too! Maybe if i go to Singapore again and want to find a budget hotel, i'll try this Hotel again!
Rate of this hotel: 85 / 100
Peace out,
qiis.
